About Qingtian

        Qingtian, bordering Wenzhou, is situated in the mountainous area of southern Zhejiang and along the middle and lower reaches of Oujiang River. It acts as the eastern gate to opening up of Lishui. As a mountainous county consisting of 90% mountains, 5% water and 5% arable land, it covers an area of 2493 square kilometers, including 3 sub-districts, 9 towns, 21 countryside areas and 414 villages, with a population of 509 thousand.Qingtian is known as hometown of stone carvings, overseas Chinese and celebrities.Honored as“Chinese Top Four Stones” together with Shoushan Stone in Fuzhou, Jixie Stone in Changhua and Balin Stone in Inner Mongolia, Qing Tian Stone, with a history of more than 6000 years, became an entry on the first National Protection List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Presently people involved in the business has reached more than 35 thousand, with an annual output value of over 0.8 billion.Qingtian is also known as the hometown of overseas Chinese,with 250 thousand overseas Chinese distributed in more than 120 countries and districts, among whom 50 thousand are involved in international trade , with annual volume of over 10 billion dollars. With a history of almost 1300 years, it has given birth to a number of celebrities, such as Liu Bowen- one of the founding fathers of Ming Dynasty, Zhang Naiqi-one of the seven gentlemen of virtue, Chen Muhua-the former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Chen Cheng-the late vice-president of Kuomingtang,and so on. During the period of Republic of China,generals(including major generals)from Qingtian are more than 100.Qingtian is also the hometown of ricefish, bayberry. Traditional Rice-fish Agriculture System has been listed as one of the global four top agricultural heritage programs by FAO. The planting area of bayberry has covered 95000 acres,with output value worth of 0.15 billion. “Pingpang bayberry" is famous all around the world and sold as far as Europe.
        Qingtian, endowed with picturesque scenery and wonderful ecology, has abundant natural resources. Up until now, more than 33 kinds of mineral resources have been explored, including molybdenum, lead as well as pyrophyllite which accounts for one eighth in the world and one fourth in the country. The output of pyrophyllite power makes up one third of the national market. Molybdenum reserves total 29 thousand tons, ranking first provincially. And its grade ranks first in the world. Rivers and streams are spotted everywhere in Qingtian, making the developable waterpower resources reach as much as 1.2 million KW. So it is one of the counties richest in waterpower resources in eastern region of China. Tankeng hydropower station, which has just been constructed, is a hydropower station of many years of grid adjusting functions in East China, with total CSP capacity of 600 thousand KW and an annual generation capacity of 1 billion KWH

        In 2009, the county’s GDP totaled 9.417 billion Yuan, with an increase of 11%. The total revenue in fiscal reached 1.148 billion Yuan, with an increase of 2.3%, among which the local revenue was 0.739 billion Yuan, with an increase of 7.2%.The disposable income of the urban residents per capita came to 20345 Yuan, with an increase of 10.1%.And the net income of the rural residents per capita came to 5863 Yuan, with an increase of 13.9%.The gross value of industrial output totaled 20.116 billion Yuan, with an increase of 8.7%. RMB deposits balance in the banking institutions was as much as 21.759 billion Yuan and foreign currency deposits 0.683 billion dollars.
        In 2010, the county’s GDP came to 11.138 billion Yuan, with an increase of 12.8 percent according to the comparable prices, and it had the largest total GDP compared with other counties except Liandu downtown area. The increasing rate was 0.3 percent higher than the average rate of the city and 1.8 percent higher than the same period of the last year. Among the increasing amounts, the primary industry contributed about 532 million, which increased 4.3 percent of the total. The secondary industry contributed 6.854 billion, which increased 15.2 percent of the total. In the secondary increase, industry product increased 5.982 billion Yuan, which increased 16.2 percent of the total. The contributing rate of industry was 67.1 percent and it contributed 8.6 percent of economic development for the whole county. The tertiary industry contributed 3.752 billion Yuan, which increased 9.7 percent of the total. In the “National Eleventh Plan”, the GDP of the whole country was 42.787 billion Yuan which was 2.4 times as much as the one in the “National Tenth Plan”. The average increasing rate was 13.9 percent. The per capita GDP of the county (Census register population only) was 22081 Yuan (3262$). That was increased 10.7 percent than that in the previous year. The per capita GDP of the county (Census register population only) was more than 3000$ for the first time.

        In 2011, The County’s GDP came to 13.562 billion which was 2.3 times than that in previous year. The total revenue was 157.4 million which was 1.9 times than that in the year of 2006. The Local financial revenue was 932 million which was 2 times than that in the year of 2006. The total investment in fixed assets of the whole county came to 24.223 billion Yuan. The scale of investment for five consecutive years ranked the first place of the whole city. Economic structure became more reasonable and the proportion for the three-industry was 4.6 to 60.6 to 34.8. In 2011, the total industrial output came to 30.382 billion Yuan including the 26.089 billion from the above-scale companies’ output. The total number was 2.9 times than that in 2006 and the output from above-scale companies was 3 times than that in 2006. In 2011, the total agricultural output came to 921 million Yuan and the average rising rate was 10.1 percent. The agricultural output and the grain market need were in a stable state. Bayberry, filed-fish and tea-oil tree, three main special industries, were becoming gradually stronger and stronger. The agricultural comprehensive benefit promotes ceaselessly. In 2011, the increased amount of the tertiary industry came to 4718 million Yuan, which increased 14.6 percent per year. The tourism industry was speeding. Tourism development investment came to 1075 million Yuan, and the county successfully built 2 national 4A level scenic areas.
